The US Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy at Arizona State University welcomes you to Tempe, Arizona. At ASU we welcome international students, faculty, and scholars from all areas of the globe. Our international community is an integral part of the ASU community and your exchange will be a unique and integral part of your life. Pre-Arrival To Do Lists

Pre-Checklist

After you have received your conditional admission from CAS, you will need to do the following:

  1. Apply for Pakistan Passport
    1. Follow instructions from CAS staff
    2. Need for travel to U.S.
  2. Obtain Health Examination
    1. Follow instructions from CAS staff
    2. Will be directed to appropriate facilities
  3. Fill out Biographical Data Form
  4. Fill out Health Insurance Form from ASU
    1. CAS staff will hand out
    2. Fill out and return to CAS staff
  5. Submit Third Semester Grades for Final Admission
    1. Admit is conditional upon completion of third semester grades
    2. Must maintain a CGPA of 3.0 or higher

Post Admissions Checklist

Once you have been fully admitted to the USPACE program you will be admitted to Arizona State University. You will need to complete the following before arrival:

  1. Apply for J-1 Visa
    1. Fill Form DS-160
    2. Print SEVIS Payment Receipt
    3. Apply for U.S. Visa Interview
    4. Pick up Passport
  2. Attend Pre-Departure Orientation
    1. Date and time will be communicated closer to departure
    2. Mandatory to attend
  3. Pack for Travel
    1. Information provided during pre-departure orientation
    2. Make sure you have your passport, DS-2019, SEVIS receipt, and USPCASE invite letter with you
Arrival and Housing

Traveling to Tempe, AZ

You will be flying into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). Upon arrival you will be greeted at the airport by a USPCASE staff member at ASU and transported to your residential hall.

Arrival Checklist

  1. Check into accommodations
  2. Attend arrival orientation
  3. Reach out to faculty

Housing

You will be living on campus in the Villas at Vista Del Sol. There is no additional application required on your behalf. Upon your arrival we will go over housing policies at ASU. Here are a few things to remember:

  1. You will not need to bring pots, pans, utensils, and plates; these will be provided
  2. Be sure to bring linens and towels
  3. Thick blankets aren’t necessary due to warmer weather but can be purchased at an affordable price in Tempe
Lab Information
Departing ASU

Before you leave ASU make sure you have completed the following:

  1. Make sure you have no outstanding charges at ASU
  2. Check-out of your residential hall
    1. Clean your room
    2. Return equipment to USPCASE staff
    3. Checkout with RA
  3. Cancel any contracts you may have setup
  4. Review tax form information with International Visits Coordinator
  5. Fill out departure form and return to International Visits Coordinator
